Model, presenter, actress, radio host, marathon runner... what can't this girl do? We chat to the beaut Ashley James about everything from her stint on popular TV show Made in Chelsea, interviewing stars like Maverick Sabre on her radio show, and who her celebrity crush is!
You first appeared in the public eye when you starred on Made in Chelsea, did you enjoy being part of the show?
Yes it was great to be part of a well known and loved show, but it was also difficult to have my private life made public. For me it was always a platform to go on to do presenting and I achieved that and am grateful for the opportunity so have no regrets.
Since you left MIC, you have landed your own radio show, what do you enjoy most about it?
I’ve loved music for as along as I remember and first started working for a BBC radio station when I was only 16 years old, so it’s a huge achievement for me to now have my own show. I book my own guests and pick my own music so it’s nice to have full control of that and be able to show my passion.
Who have been your favourite performer/s to interview?
I loved interviewing Snakehips as they’re track All my Friends was my favourite track at the time, plus they’re quite unknown behind their music so it was really interesting to meet them and talk to them. I also loved interviewing Maverick Sabre because he’s an incredibly talented artist but he had great personality and was really honest and open with all his answers.
What other projects are you working on at the moment?
I’ve just launched my new website, which I’ve been working hard on for the last 5 months. It’s a place that celebrates all my interests and hobbies and hopefully people can learn things from the content too.
I’ve got a few campaigns out too - I’m the face of George at Asda’s swimwear and Bic’s summer campaign - which was awesome as the shoot was festival themed and we have to go to Lovebox as part of it.
What festivals are you hitting this summer?
I love festivals. I’m at Great Escape this weekend, then Glastonbury, Wilderness, Wireless, Reading, Love Box, Isle of Wight.
What would you say is your festival style?
I’d say I’m pretty bohemian. I love braids, white, gold jewellery. I also like ankle boots and denim shorts with cute tops. I like lots of colour too! I pretty much love all festival fashion basically - it’s fun and laid back.
Congrats on just completing the London Marathon! What was the toughest part of taking part?
The toughest part was the mental battle of the last ten miles. I was so tired and in pain but I knew if I stopped it would get worse and take longer, so I forced myself to carry on.
You were recently photographed rocking narlaka whilst holidaying in Bali, what is your favourite piece from the Fearless Wanderers collection?
I love the print of The Alix and The Chloe, but my personal favourite has to be The Hattie shorts. I’m not into those denim short shorts you see everywhere, I don’t have the bum! So these are a great alternative, comfortable and super versatile. I love the lace trim!
Who is your all time celebrity crush?
It’s got to be Fetty Wap! I am obsessed with him.
And lastly, Jess and Amy always relate to our spirit animal - Jess is the peacock and Amy is the elephant. What would your spirit animal be, & why?
I’d say a leopard. There’s method to their actions, are quite graceful and no one messes with them.
