It only seemed appropriate that our first blog post should explain a little bit about us. Firstly, a big hello to anyone reading this. However you found us, and wherever you are in the world, thank you for giving us some of your time.
So who are we? We are two lifelong friends, who have been on countless adventures together that has led us to this point - the creation of something that we truly believe in. narlaka is us. We are narlaka.
Both born and bred in England, Jess and Amy have both been lucky enough to grow up hearing about one of, if not the, biggest music festival in the world – the one and only Glastonbury! It sparked something in our hearts about festivals and as we hit our twenties we started attending them on a regular basis, both in England and abroad. And it was love at first sight.
In our eyes a weekend away sleeping in a tent, walking around for days in the squidgy mud, raving to all kinds of music, and making friends over bacon butties in the morning is our idea of heaven! It is by no means for everyone, but it is certainly getting more popular by the year. There seem to be festivals popping up everywhere and anywhere these days.
For us, a big part of the enjoyment of a festival is the outfits. Cue the glitter, outrageous leggings, fur, and of course the 1980’s style anoraks. With festivals you can afford to go a bit ‘out there’ because absolutely nobody judges you. No matter what your style you will fit in at a festival and this is what we fall in love with time and time again – there is really nothing like the freedom to just go wild and be yourself.
But where do you find the outfits? Obviously we make our weekly trip to Claire’s accessories for the glitter pots. But the clothes? Yes we have dabbled in bits and bobs from the high-street classics, but then you just end up wearing the same as everyone else. And so narlaka was born. We are creating pieces that we felt were missing from our own wardrobes. The funky prints. The sexy cuts. The comfort. Every piece that you see on our website is designed lovingly by Jess and Amy – taking experience from what we want to wear at festivals (and in all aspects of our life too). From the comfortable playsuit, with the cover up boyfriend shirt, and the shaggy wool jacket for the evenings. And not forgetting the ultimate festival staple – the bumbag.
And it’s not only the clothes. We hope that this blog – Narlaka Vibes – will be your go to for style advice (festival style and everyday wear), music suggestions, festival news, and anything else we can think of. We aren’t just a brand. We are a lifestyle. And so we say again - narlaka is us, we are narlaka. So come and join our tribe! #narlakavibes
