Music is something that is hugely rooted in Narlaka, as the brand was born from a love of going to music festivals. The carefree attitude of festival goers was a massive inspiration for co-founders Jess and Amy - we wanted to design clothes that gave you the exact same feeling as when you are at a festival. No matter who you are, where you come from, what you are wearing, you can go to a festival and ‘fit in’. The idea of not following trends and having the confidence to wear what you want without being judged is something that we fell in love with.
And so… The Kapwoski print! This is our most loved print, and something that we think represents the brand perfectly. We took inspiration from the 80s TV classic, Saved by The Bell, [hence the name - I mean, who didn’t have a crush on Kelly Kaposwki?!] combined with the radical and colourful vibes of the Memphis design movement in the 80s. We worked alongside print designer Helen Sales who perfectly made our vision come to life.
We made sure the nostalgic feel of the print was then embodied in the design of the garments. The bodysuit includes a retro chunky white zip at the front, a low back, and a stretchy comfy fit inspired by aerobics fashion from the 80s. The print also comes in retro-style bomber jackets, oversized unisex shirts and shorts, and casual wrap dresses.
The Kapwoski print comes in either the full colour or the monochrome style. We wanted to offer it in Black and White so that it can be worn all year round, and when not at a festival.
We hope you love the print as much as we do! Shop now to get your 80s fix!
